Rainbow Beach has many spectacular natural attractions and things to do that are a must for anyone visiting the region. The endless stretch of pristine beaches and clear tropical waters are the easiest to find on the door step of Rainbow Beach.
Double Island Point is one of Rainbow Beaches best highlights and things to do. Hidden from the main roads this amazing surfing break can only be accessed at low tide by driving along the beach by 4X4. It is well known for its super long right hand point break and as Australia’s longest wave. Epic Ocean Adventures run surfing trips and other amazing things to do there daily.
Hidden behind this sleepy town Carlo Sand Blow is an impressive giant sand bowl towering over the famous Rainbow Beach Coloured Sand Cliffs with stunning views of Double Island Point, Inskip Point & Fraser Island. A popular spot for sunset or for the early bird sunrise and one of the most popular things to do in Rainbow Beach.
Carlo Point is another hidden picture perfect location for views of the sunset and to throw in a line to catch a fish or sometimes catch a view of the local Australian Humpback Dolphin.
A quick dip in the spring waters of Seary’s Creek are always inviting with its sandy bottom and super clear waters offering the opportunity to see different types of fish, eels and yabbies.
Inskip Point offers some excellent beaches for fishing or having fun protected from the wind. This is where you can see the southern tip of Fraser Island and the 4X4’s loading on the barge and coming on and off the Island. Some excellent camping options at Inskip Point right on the beach within the National Park.
The spectacular Rainbow Beach Coloured Sands are situated from just below the Rainbow Beach Surf Club and stretch from Rainbow Beach to Double Island Point, the rich mineral sand dunes boast a highlight of 72 different colours and is a stunning backdrop. According to the legends of the Kabi people (Aboriginals of South East Queensland) , the dunes were coloured when Yiningie, a spirit represented by a rainbow, plunged into the cliffs after doing battle with an evil tribesman.
A number of excellent nature walks including Cooloola Great Walk and the hidden oasis Poona lake. You can access the start of this walk with a 2WD vehicle.
